Dear Overland Families,
Can you believe the year is coming to an end? It feels like the whole thing has been a blur. We wish we could tell you there was relief around the corner, that all of this chaos would stop and the world would suddenly be healed, but we certainly cannot. First and foremost, we want to send all of you our love and tell you that even when the school year ends, we will still be here. We are committed to doing anything and everything we can to make next year the best it can be, even in the face of the unknown.
But that is exactly why we are reaching out. With the cancellation of our auction this year, we have had to cut $80,000 from our budget for next year. $80,000 that normally funds our aids, class size reduction teachers, science lab, our library, Overland in Motion, computer lab, art, and so much more. We appreciate every single family who donated their auction ticket, that meant a lot to feel your support. But now we have to ask you for more. That night you would have joined us to bid on teacher treats, trips to far off places, exciting experiences with your children, and most importantly to RAISE YOUR PADDLE and support this school we all love so much. We can’t give you that experience, we can’t take us all back there, but we have to ask you to please think about what you would have spent that night. If each family can commit to $275, we might close this gap. If any family can do more to sponsor a family who might not be able to contribute due to the impacts of this pandemic, that would mean so much. This is the time that we need to take care of each other – and our beloved school.
